The area surrounding the city has some singularly beautiful features. The Pan de Matanzas (Matanzas Bread Loaf) Hill and the Yumurí Valley are particularly entrancing. Places to visit in the city include the Sauto Theater, the Triolet Drug Store, "Bellamar" Caves.

Varadero Golf Club 

Varadero Golf Club, the first 18 hole Golf Course in Cuba, was designed by architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian company Golf Design Services LTD (GDS). It covers a narrow 3.5 km strip located between "Breezes Varadero", "Tuxpan", "Bella Costa", "Meliá Las Américas", "Meliá Varadero", "Sol Palmeras" and "Sol Sirenas-Coral" hotels.

Josone Park

This park, having approximately 9 he and built in the bordering areas of the Laguna de La Paz (The Peace Lagoon), is the biggest natural area in the historic Varadero. Here coexist natural, historic, architectonic, cultural , floral and ornithological values. You can explore the park on foot, by bicycle, in a horse-drawn carriage or by boat.

"Saturno" Cave

One of Cuba’s most famous caves, regarded by many as one of the Island’s unique and unprecedented natural wonders. Ancient cavern  flooded  to a depth  of  20 meters.

"Bellamar" Caves

They were discovered in February 1861. Such caves are made of crystalline formations and great amount of stalagmites and stalactites. The interior passages descend looking for the aquifer, ending up in lakes with crystal waters.It is 3,1 kms. (almost two miles) long. Tours cover 1500 m (5000 feet) of it, including some of its 17 galleries, 6 halls and a corridor. 

  Yumuri Valley

It is a highly significant landscape in which nature and architecture are mixed. It still preserves archeological remains and the endemic vegetable species melocactus matanzanus.

   Sauto Theather

One of the most famous Cuban theaters of the 19th century. A jewel of neoclassical architecture, with excellent acoustics. It was first opened in 1863, and scores of nationally and internationally renowned figures have performed in the ballets, operas, musical comedies, concerts, variety shows and plays that have been presented on its stage. It has now been declared a national monument.

   Pharmaceutical Museum

Founded in 1882, the French pharmacy is the only one of those times that preserves the equipment, furniture, and original documents of receipts. Fifty five books for receipt entries and also copies of different books in four languages that make up the library. Medication, Porcelain pots, Tools used to produce medication by using traditional methods during last century, Herbs with medical properties.
